As I recall I was asking why do we fear change? Is it because we are afraid of the unknown? A resounding YES from Ilene!
Why is it that some of us prefer to do nothing while others will take the chance and jump? Geronimo! Why do some of us stay in unsatisfying relationships and/or jobs? Why do we tolerate the situation rather than taking the leap of faith knowing that it will all work out?
How many people stay in marriages because they do not want to be alone? Or believe they will be negatively impacted by the divorce? Will I date? Will he like me? Will I re-
marry? Will I be able to afford life as a single? Will I be able to handle all of the day-to-day issues that arise? Will I be able to retire? Too many questions…
OMG! I cannot control myself and am asking more questions…. How many people are currently in jobs that they hate? You may say you can’t leave because you don’t know if you will find another job. Or you’ve been an accountant/chef/salesperson for many years and don’t know what else you will do. Maybe it’s time to find your passion and do what you love. But that is a topic for another day.
OK, it is realized that you have to accept change because it is happening all of the time. It appears that life is one transition after another. Since this is the case, you need to relax and accept the change; stop fighting it. Because there are certain things that are not in your control, you could surrender to the changes you are experiencing. Surrender…..Ahhhhh…. Are you listening Ilene?
One important piece of information that you should know is that change is an opportunity. Do not be afraid of it but welcome it. You have a choice to be frightened of life and the changes you encounter or welcome them and seize the moment.
