Clik here to view. When I was a younger woman, much younger, I created storylines using my imagination that depicted me as the “perfect woman”. I was petite, beautiful, talented, and dated the most amazing men. And no, this is not going to be a post on loving yourself. Today, we’re going to focus on the imagination in order to understand how it can negatively impact your life.
As you all know, the imagination is a wonderful asset that should not be taken for granted. When writers, artists, sculptors, and musicians use their imagination, beautiful works are created. Even when people who are not in the arts use their imagination, magic happens when inspired.
However, when your imagination is used to create a storyline that generates anxiety, stress, loss of confidence in your abilities, and setting limits on life’s possibilities, that too is magic. Unfortunately, the fairies and good witches are unavailable and cannot assist you with your imaginary plight.
Why is it that it is so much easier to imagine the worst case scenario than the best case scenario? Why do you worry about something that hasn’t even happened yet? What makes it even worse, is that the story you created frightened the bejesus out of you. The story reinforced the fear you were either consciously or subconsciously worried about.
OK, I’ve heard enough! It’s time to stop your imagination from running rampant because it is making you worried, anxious and just plain crazy! You’ve got to take control of your imagination and focus on the present moment where the worst has not yet happened.
Once you calm down and are in the present moment you can determine why you imagined that worst scenario. What fears, beliefs, and insecurities were embedded in your imaginary story? Quiet the mind, meditate, and then write down what you have learned. You will be amazed at what you discover.
Since your subconscious does not know the actual from the imagined, fact or fiction, it believes the story you are telling yourself. Don’t fret about what hasn’t even happened yet. Imagine wonderful opportunities and a glorious life for yourself.
Be inspired because you believe that anything can happen. And it will.
Hugs,
Ilene
